Position Summary:
The Safety and Human Resources Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting both workplace safety and human resources functions at our fastener manufacturing facility. This position ensures that all safety regulations and HR policies are followed, promoting a secure, compliant, and productive environment for all employees. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing setting and demonstrates a proactive approach to problem-solving, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs specific to fastener manufacturing operations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulations.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Lead safety training sessions including lockout/tagout, PPE use, forklift safety, and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the facility.
Human Resources:
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding hourly and salaried employees.
- Maintain employee records and manage time and attendance systems.
- Support managers in handling employee relations, coaching, and performance issues.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements (if applicable).
- Coordinate employee training, certifications, and development initiatives.
- Assist with payroll, benefits administration, and HR reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ years of combined experience in HR and safety within a manufacturing environment; fastener industry experience is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of OSHA standards and employment laws.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30, SHRM-CP, or PHR preferred.
