Supervisor: Event Operations Manager
Pay Type: Hourly, Variable Hours
Compensation: Starting at $16.00 per hour
Position Summary: Responsible for setting up, stocking, serving and dismantling catering and/or bar services for Meijer Gardens' Culinary Arts & Events department. Required to work independently as well as with effective direction and support for other staff members, volunteers, and vendors.
Essential Functions
Provide guest centric service for culinary arts related events.
- Follow work assignments and instructions provided by supervisor
- Read and follow instructions for all food and beverage event set ups.
Serve guests according to floor service layout and organization’s guiding principles.
- Clear dining areas and check on guests’ experience.
- Assist with Amphitheater concessions services.
Coordinate and document beverage inventory use and accounting information in connection with beverage service
- Maintain beginning and ending inventory sheets for beverage service.
- Rotate inventory and stock supplies.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and general organization of facilities and equipment.
- Maintain clean work areas, equipment, and service locations.
- Wash china, glassware, flatware, and other equipment related to assigned events.
- At conclusion of each event, put away equipment and products used in proper locations.
Contribute to a positive team approach by working collaboratively with both front and back of house.
Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive guest experience by being knowledgeable, approachable, and attentive to guest needs
- Set up and break down bar(s) according to event needs
- Ensure all necessary product and supplies are stocked and ready
- Properly put away all product and supplies
- Prepare and serve alcoholic beverages to guests
- Prepare drinks in a timely manner
- Serve beverages according to organization’s standard and guidelines
- Ensure quality and consistency of beverages
- Effectively operate POS system
- Accurately input orders into POS system
- Process payments
- Assist with ensuring all applicable regulations, ordinances, codes, and laws are followed i.e., MDHHS, MLCC and any other governing municipals.
Education and / or Qualifications preferred:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: One year experience in serving and or bartending within the food and beverage industry.
- Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Ability to carry and balance serving trays with multiple items. Alcohol training is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions: Basic mobility is expected in offices, grounds, and exhibition areas. Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information accurately with others. Engage in occasional object manipulation with or without assistance, and efficiently navigate the workspace to access essential resources. Ability to regularly move up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move 100+ pounds (i.e., load, unload, and move supplies, medium to heavy weight tools, and equipment). Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. This job operates in a professional indoor office environment, across grounds, and exhibition areas. Occasionally, may be required to work outdoors under inclement weather conditions. Very customer service-oriented work, requiring multitasking in a hands-on manner i.e., floor coverage and multiple forms of communications.
