Essential functions (job duties):
Develops, writes and submits proposals for new projects and continued program funding. Identifies public and private funding opportunities. Monitors various online and print publications and websites for source information, at the local, state, and national level. Accesses and utilizes confidential information to include sensitive documents such as strategic plan , department plans, leadership team's strategic priorities and personnel information in the development of grant proposals. Maintains knowledge of legal, federal and state regulations, ensuring program adherence.
Assists with establishing and implementing/ attaining strategic initiatives and program objectives . Lead s all phases of projects that align with program objectives from planning to closing, ensuring budget and target date attainment. Utilize s fundamental project management processes, methodologies, tools and techniques to ensure project success. Communicate s project progress and milestones to stakeholders .
Provide overall lead ership and direction to staff. Set expectations and focus, assign duties, delegate ??responsibilities, evaluate activities, prepare performance ?appraisals and professional development plans. Provide coaching, mentoring and teaching . Manage the ??administrative process for assigned staff including hiring, ?promotions, terminations, disciplinary procedures, ? and salary ??adjustments. Provide ongoing performance feedback, goal setting, and development plans for staff. ???Plan for future staffing needs . Provide timely communications to staff.
Oversee s budget development and interface s with post-award team to monitor budget expenditures according to WSU and grant agency requirements.
Analyze s large volume of data to ensure programs and project goal attainment; identif ies trends and opportunities for improvement and recommend s and/or implement s solutions.
Serve s as lead liaison to internal ( i.e. WSU Sponsored Programs, KCI Administration, Human Resources) and external stakeholders ( i.e. local, industry, state and federal agencies) and partners.
Perform s other related duties as assigned.
Unique duties:
Reporting to the Vice President Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) Research Administration, the Associate Director, Research Administration is responsible for the effective and efficient management of various programs and grants for the University's Department of Oncology and KCI. Provides comprehensive leadership of multi-site state projects and to assigned staff. Serves as program, grant and project liaison with school, university and external stakeholders in support of continued program and project success.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree in business or related field or a combination of education and relevant experience .
Experience: Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years experience)
Five to seven years' of experience in progressive ly responsible roles in grant proposal development to a variety of agencies . E xperience working with multiple grants.

Results Oriented: Demonstrated strong skills and a track record for sustained measurement of program and project outcomes, ability to work independently and with and through others to achieved desired results. Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize project management processes, methodologies and tools.
