Production Technician Apprentice
Launch Your Skilled Trades Career
At Powell, we don’t just build equipment—we build futures. As a Production Technician Apprentice, you’ll be joining a hands-on, tight-knit team that takes pride in crafting highly engineered, custom chemical processing systems. While this is an entry-level role, it’s also the first step in a long-term skilled trades career.
We’re not a traditional factory. No two days look the same. One day you might be learning to weld stainless steel piping, the next you’re helping wire an instrument panel or prepping for a customer test run on new equipment. You don’t need experience to join us—just mechanical aptitude, a growth mindset, and a strong work ethic. We'll pair you with a seasoned team member and provide the tools, mentorship, and training to help you develop into a skilled tradesperson over time.
What You’ll Do
• Learn how to read blueprints and interpret job specifications
• Assist with mechanical and electrical assembly - pumps, valves, instruments, and control panels
• Help install and fabricate piping systems (metal and CPVC), and learn hydraulic and pneumatic testing
• Conduct low-volume production runs of parts & accessories
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment like threaders and benders (with training)
• Contribute to cleaning, organizing, and maintaining our production areas
• Support basic facility and grounds maintenance tasks and general upkeep
• Support special project builds, factory acceptance testing, and more
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment—and always follow safety procedures
What You’ll Learn Over Time
As you grow in this role, you’ll gain exposure to:
• Pipe fitting and assembly for custom systems
• Instrumentation wiring and panel building
• MIG, TIG, and orbital welding
• Painting and finishing in a professional paint booth
• Machining and custom fabrication
• Testing and startup support for high-end equipment
With experience, you may have opportunities to advance into:
• Production Technician & Senior Production Technician roles
www.PowellSolutions.com
• Production leadership or supervisory paths
• Field service technician roles (travel across North America and the world)
• Further education and career moves into sales engineering, supply chain, or other technical specialties (Powell offers education reimbursement)
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who want more than just a job—they want to grow in a trade, work with their hands, and build things that matter. If this sounds like you, you’ll thrive at Powell:
• You’re mechanically inclined and like to figure out how things work
• You learn by doing and aren't afraid to ask questions or try something new
• You take pride in your work and want to do things the right way
• You live out our Powell Principles:
o Humble Confidence – You listen to others to understand their needs and perspective and share your expert knowledge with confidence, but without ego.
o Assist Leader – You take initiative and support your team whenever needed.
o Resiliently Curious – You love learning and don’t quit when things get hard.
o Do the Right Thing – You stay professional and with a professional, pleasant, courteous and cooperative attitude at all times.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50 lbs.), climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as needed
• Ability to read or learn to read blueprints, use measuring tools, and follow instructions
• Willingness to wear proper personal protective equipment and follow safety standards
• Reliable attendance, team-first attitude, and attention to safety
