Build Custom Solutions. Grow as a Skilled Tradesperson.
At Powell, our team of Production Technicians brings custom-built equipment to life—piece by piece, system by system. This is not a traditional factory job. As a Production Technician, you’ll play a critical role assembling, testing, and troubleshooting highly engineered systems for the chemical processing industry. From piping and panels to instrumentation and startup support, every day offers variety and challenge.
If you’ve mastered the basics and are looking to deepen your skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, this is your opportunity to grow. You’ll work independently and as part of a team, using specialized tools and techniques to assemble custom systems with precision and pride.
What You’ll Do
• Interpret blueprints and job specifications with confidence
• Install and fabricate piping systems (metal and CPVC), conduit, and instrument air lines
• Set up and operate threading, bending, and orbital welding equipment
• Assist with wiring electrical panels and instrumentation
• Perform water pressure and hydraulic testing on complex systems
• Complete RMA (return materials authorization) repairs and documentation
• Support customer testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT)
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols
What You’ll Learn and Own
You’ll continue to develop deeper proficiency in:
• Instrumentation setup and calibration
• Reading and troubleshooting wiring schematics
• Managing workflow for RMA components
• Supporting start-up service and test plans for customer systems
• Coaching newer technicians and apprentices
With experience, you may have opportunities to advance into:
• Senior Production Technician role
• Production leadership or supervisory paths
• Field service technician roles (travel across North America and the world)
• Further education and career moves into sales engineering, supply chain, or other technical specialties (Powell offers education reimbursement)
