Position reporting to: Line Supervisor

Production Line Coater Tech: Set-up and perform all coating operations with necessary skills to produce a quality finished part in a timely fashion.

Powder Coating:

• Requires prolonged standing, some bending, stretching and stooping.
• Must be able to lift 55# boxes of powder to supply hoppers.
• Must be able to select and set-up powder.
• Must be able to maintain work area and equipment in accordance with company procedures.
• Must check test piece coated for any contamination and proper gun settings.
• Must be able to periodically inspect own application and adjust coating technique and adjust K.V.’s on powder gun control to get the required application.
• Must be able to maintain cleaning and maintenance of equipment (guns, hoppers, hoses, hook-ups, etc.
• Assist Line Supervisor in any other area requested.
• Accurately and completely fill out powder usage sheets.
• Be able to perform powder changes within allotted time.
• Blow out guns and hoses during powder changes.
• Immediately inform Line Supervisor of any coating problems (due to line speed, gun problems, etc.)
• Weigh all powder left over after production run and record information on the box and powder usage sheets.

Quality:

• Check out parts before coating to make sure they are racked properly, clean and without rust, etc.
• Check the Work Order for type of finish required on parts to be coated.
• Check powder number on boxes to ensure proper powder is being used.
• Do a first piece check and periodically check the quality of parts coming out of over and adjust application accordingly.
• Inform Line Supervisor immediately of any quality problems that arise.

Housekeeping:

• Make sure the equipment is clean prior to startup.
• Remove all personal items from the powder room at the end of the day.
• Remove all powders and return them to proper storage area after weighing and recording at the end of each day.
• Clean equipment according to procedures.
• Completely blow down booths, walls, floors, etc.

Personal Development:

• Safety glasses are required.
• Proper work shoes are required.
• Must wear all personal protection equipment as required by the company.
• Must be able to wear approved respiratory protection as required by the company.
• Must be flexible and cooperative with supervision and coworkers.
• Must participate in all training involved.
• Must meet attendance guidelines according to company policy.
• Must have willingness to accept changes and promote growth in the company.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED. Sufficient education to ensure the ability to read and compute math at the level required to successfully meet all job requirements.
• Ability to understand and carry out all oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Willingness to work in various temperatures and variable work schedules.
• Must be able to see well for quality work.
• Regular overtime is required whenever necessary to meet production schedules.
