Certification/
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, required;
- Evidence of full licensure for an occupational therapist through the Michigan Department Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), required; and
- National Board Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT);
- Education and/or Early On based social work experience preferred but not required. Willingness to learn required.

Job Summary: To establish and maintain an educational program, within the framework of Early On and Childhood Practices using the Primary Service Provider (PSP) model to help young children and their families achieve positive cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. The role is to assist infants, toddlers, and their families through evaluation, consultation, and service provision as a member of the Early On Team in accordance with the ISD Plan.

Performance
Responsibilities:
- Consult and evaluate children ages birth through 3 years old who have been referred for Early On.
- Provide services to young children and their families using the Primary Service Provider (PSP) model.
- Actively participate in Primary Service Provider team meetings.
- Acts as on-going Service Coordinator for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C and Michigan Mandated Special Education (MMSE) eligible children using a parent-coaching, routines-based approach.
- Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET), REED meetings, Evaluations, Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP)/Individual Educational Program (IEP) meetings.
- Provide recommendations regarding student eligibility for Early On and develop goals and objectives for children eligible to receive Early On and/or special education services.
- Prepare and plan a variety of instructional techniques and resources consistent with the needs of infants and their familiar s to be implemented in the home setting.
- Conduct home visits for the purpose of assessment, consultation and education of infants and toddlers.
- Develop, implement and evaluate individual therapy plans based upon IFSP/IEP goals and objectives (Part C/Part B IDEA).
- Prepare and implement plans for home visits or playgroups and show evidence of preparation through development of the IFSP performance objectives (Part C IDEA).
- Assess the growth of students and provide progress reports as required.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and resources consistent with the needs of infants and their families.
- Establish and maintain relationships with institutions, referral agencies, classroom staff, related services staff, and parents, maintaining and encouraging effective communications among these groups regarding student’s needs.
- Create a working environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs of students and their families.
- Maintain, prepare and process the district’s required documentation, which includes, but is not limited to the following: Progress monitoring data, Program data, Medicaid, etc.
- Keep the special education program supervisor and the ISD Associate Superintendent of Special Education informed of any issues that may significantly impact the delivery of Early On or special education programs or services.
- Make appropriate referrals to other disciplines and to other agencies.
- Maintain professional competence in the field which may include attending and participating in professional organizations, workshops and conferences.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Special Education.
Terms of Employment: Wage and benefits per Master Agreement for certified staff depending upon training and experience.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in according with the Master Agreement for certified staff.
