Overview:
Due to business expansion and growth strategies, we have added a lead position for our CNC Mill department, which includes 9 horizontal and vertical mills. We use Mastercam 2025.
Essential Functions for Mill Lead:
- Supervise approximately 6 machinists, including ensure productivity, adherence to standards, housekeeping/organization, scheduling, training/developing
- Act as subject matter expert on best practices in machining and efficient set ups.
- Organize job flow and schedule based on customer need, job similarity, efficiency (forward thinking)
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedule is completed on equipment, e.g. maintaining coolant and lubricant levels, cleaning machines
- Set up CNC Mills including but not limited to selecting tooling, indicating/setting tooling, milling jaws, stepping through first piece, using math equations, working with CNC programs, using precision measuring equipment, completing quality inspection check sheets
- Machine and inspect precision parts
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Background in supervision/leadership required. Prefer experience in manufacturing setting.
- Ability to set up and run a machined part. In a job shop, this involves starting with a blueprint, CNC program, and material and then determining work holding, building and setting tools in machine, setting work offsets, running through a first piece, and making adjustments as needed to ensure the part is in tolerance.
- Strong background in machining, including experience with CNC mills and/or lathes
- Proficient in reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height stands
- Strong knowledge of basic math and mechanical principles
- Knowledge of CAM programming, G & M codes preferred but not required
- Experience in manufacturing or similar industry helpful
- Proven record of dependability and willingness to learn
