Description
The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $95,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Quality Systems and Compliance (QS&C), this position has oversight for the quality, food safety and food defense programs at facilities in the assigned area/location. Duties also include guidance of, and assisting in the creation, implementation and administration of security and bio-security programs. The FSQ Manager attains and maintains required programs such as SQF, HACCP, and SFSF, as directed the Director of Quality Systems and Compliance (QS&C). This position is a key component of food processing regulatory and customer compliance requirements, communications, initiatives and training
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance to product safety and quality parameters in the processing area with regards to company standards, customer requirements, GMP's, HACCP, USDA, FDA and other regulations as they apply
Responsible for the implementation of the SQF program and also has the authority to take appropriate action(s) to ensure the integrity of the SQF system is maintained
Integral member of local site management team
Lead the development, implementation, review, maintenance, and continual improvement of the food safety and quality system and best practices in the egg industry
Oversight of product testing, process testing and environmental monitoring
Responsible for audits of processing plants, biosecurity and site security
Work in tandem with the Animal Welfare Manager and the Corporate Compliance Manager to integrate programs, audit birds, and feed supply for animal welfare, egg safety, and feed safety and quality
Lead the development, implementation, review and continual improvement of the biosecurity programs working with the Director of Veterinary Services and Director of QS&C
Compile and analyze data
Communicate with the Director of Quality Assurance, site management, contract flock and mill managers (as applicable) and customers for normal communications, problem identification, out of compliance situations and process improvements.
Participate in Vendor Certification program
Responsible for the oversight of training processing stakeholders and FSQ Technicians about food safety and quality
Oversight of processing activities and stakeholders in the absence of processing management on occasion
Work on corporate projects as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Quality, Food, or Biological Sciences or equivalent experience is preferred.
SQF (Required within 6 months of employment if not already held.)
HACCP (Required within 6 months of employment if not already held.)
ASQ
PAACO
Internal Audit (Required within 6 months of employment if not already held.)
Water Operations Certifications
5 years of experience in egg processing or production
3 years of supervisory or leadership duties
Experience in Food Processing or Pharmaceuticals or related product safety and quality programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be a hands-on self-starter.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to train stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Thorough knowledge, or ability to attain thorough knowledge, of Food Safety Systems
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to motivate employees to work within Company parameters.
Ability to work at any Company area sites routinely.
Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including being on call after normal work hours, weekends, some work from home or extended hours on location as deemed necessary by Management.
Professionalism in appearance and work habits, self-organization, sanitation, management, teamwork and techniques for efficient and cost-effective food production are stressed.
Prefer experience with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Prefer informal leadership skills and fluent in Spanish.
Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Physical Demands
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards. Cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
