General Summary:
Department: Cardiac Cath Lab
Schedule: 40hrs, Day Shift, 6:30am - 3:30pm2, Monday - Friday
Assists with procedures to analyze, diagnose and treat the cardiovascular system.
Prepares patients for procedures. Reviews medical history, positions patients and cleans/shaves/numbs testing sites as appropriate.
Interprets, describes and reports test results. Recognizes recording errors, artifacts and reacts appropriately.
Monitors patient prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings in patient's condition.
Prepares and maintains equipment, supplies and lab area. Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
Ensures equipment is properly functioning.
Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel and lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
May prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited program in Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent academic program and experience.)
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURESREQUIRED:
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI).
Valid BCLS certification required/ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire.
