Job Title: Distribution Engineer
Job Description
This role involves connecting new homes and commercial businesses to the energy grid and upgrading existing connections. The position is a 6 month contract with the potential for direct hire. Engineers will perform field work and work remotely, creating detailed electrical work packages for utility companies.
Responsibilities
Conduct field inspections to gather notes, pictures, measurements, and sketches to create work packages.
Develop design packages for construction crews, including electrical drawings and analysis.
Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis, electric demand, transformer sizing, and voltage drop.
Select materials and create a Bill of Materials using SAP software.
Interact daily with supervisors, peers, and customers to exchange or present factual information.
Perform administrative tasks, planning, and customer follow-up.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
0-2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree.
Experience working with an electric utility or consulting company.
Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
Strong communication skills for client interaction.
Ability to lift 20 pounds and walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, and Microstation.
Fundamentals of Engineering certification.

Work Environment
The role is based in the Ludington, MI area. Engineers will spend 10-20% of their time on field inspections, 60-80% on engineering and design work, and 10% on administrative tasks. Field work is flexible and can be scheduled around other projects and weather conditions. Remote work is available for non-field tasks.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
