JOB SUMMARY:
To build or repair all types, sizes and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Assemble
and try out complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans the set-up and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering
types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and
machine tool feeds and speeds.
2. Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written istructions or
from the part to be copied or fitted.
3. Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring tools,
performing required inspection throughout the machining process.
4. Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies by
using hand tools of the trade. Heat treats parts as required.
5. Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Set-up, run-off and test product
to produce a product to specifications. Troubleshooting equipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform basic maintenance, repair and housekeeping on machinery and station.
2. May work with engineers and product designers regarding capability on parts.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
