The Payroll Operations Team

Work You'll Do
As a US Payroll Delivery Specialist Leader, you will be responsible for managing the team that supports the end-to-end payroll processes for our clients that are running US payroll on an in-house cloud solution. This role will be aligned with our most complex clients who will have requirements to serve tens to hundreds of thousands of employees in multiple states, both union and non-union, hourly, and salaried and spread across multiple business units.
As a payroll leader you will be responsible for ensuring the quality-of-service delivery to our clients. This could include supporting the client with the various components of the payroll process including the accuracy and timeliness of payments and reporting, researching and resolving payroll issues, and ensuring compliance with company policies as well as federal, state and local wage and tax laws and some international laws.
You will also be a key member of our leadership team which means you will be required to help with the strategic planning and growth of our practice. You will also provide input into how to best select, develop and grow our people.
This critical position demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities will include:
Manage the relationships with our clients' payroll organizations and be their trusted partner in delivering quality payroll services and accurate payroll outcomes.
Manage our teams and ensure the timely processing of weekly payrolls for over hundreds of thousands of employees, guaranteeing accuracy and addressing any issues with prompt and courteous customer service.
Manage internal controls procedures within the department, collaborate with auditors, and facilitate compliance with regulatory agencies.
Support the timely filing of federal and state withholding, year-end reporting obligations, and other statutory requirements.
Understanding our clients' business needs and their processes to integrate Deloitte's products and services into their operating models
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external clients to optimize payroll and time administration processes.
Responsible for timely resolution of all escalated issues and employee inquiries related to pay.
Ensure our team appropriately handles garnishments and liaise with third-party providers for seamless processing.
Partner with the client team, client vendors and/or other Deloitte teams to coordinate payroll system enhancements and updates and ensure proper testing and implementation.
Actively participate as a practice leader by supporting the growth of the practice and our people.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 8 years' experience with high-volume payroll processing (on-cycle and off-cycle)
Minimum of 5 years' experience with a Cloud Payroll solution (Oracle, Workday, or SuccessFactors)
Minimum of 8 years' experience with federal and state wage and hour laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), taxes, deductions, and garnishments
Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Professional Payroll Certification (CPP)
Minimum of 8 years of experience working with HR and/or Workforce Management (WFM) payroll functions and processes, with a strong understanding of business needs and challenges while demonstrating strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio and PowerPoint, with at least 2 years' experience creating advanced Excel models (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and developing client-ready PowerPoint presentations for executive-level audiences.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $158,900 - $292,900.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
