Job Overview
Froude Inc., a leading manufacturer of engine test equipment, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
This role will primarily focus on the Go Power product line, with the potential to expand to other Froude product lines. The position combines product maintenance, application engineering, and mechanical design engineering, with a focus on supporting the full lifecycle of the Go Power products. Responsibilities include product R&D, custom mechanical solution design, system analysis, troubleshooting, installation support, and continuous product improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, production, and commissioning, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.
The Role and Responsibilities
Product Maintenance & Support:
- Perform corrective maintenance to identify and fix mechanical equipment and system faults.
- Support build, test and installation of products to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Develop solutions for technical issues encountered throughout the product lifecycle.
- Analyze and address product documentation defects, ensuring all related documentation (e.g., drawings, manuals, test procedures) are up to date and accurate.
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide timely solutions to customer queries.
Application Engineering:
- Design custom mechanical solutions tailored to specific customer needs, ensuring all designs meet functional and performance specifications.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical systems, providing technical advice and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases.
- Participate in testing and fine-tuning of mechanical systems to ensure they meet customer specifications.
Design & Engineering:
- Develop and test mechanical products, using advanced engineering principles and tools.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure that new product designs meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Refine existing product designs to improve performance, durability, and manufacturability, leveraging customer and field data.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications, design drawings, and operating manuals.
- Support technically during production, installation and commissioning, offering guidance on design details and troubleshooting.
Continuous Product Improvement & Innovation:
- Collaborate with sales and commissioning team to propose and implement product improvements based on emerging technologies and customer feedback.
- Contribute to ongoing product development efforts for the Go Power product line and potentially other Froude systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and engineering advancements, bringing new ideas to the table for process optimization and product innovation.
Sales & Customer Support:
- Provide technical support to the sales team throughout the sales process, offering insights into product capabilities and limitations.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with customer needs.
- Foster strong relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and providing technical advice as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other engineering team members, production, and field service to ensure seamless execution of projects.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting, problem-solving, and design verification.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems, product lifecycle management, and application engineering.
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design principles, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, machine design, and GD&T.
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools for design, modeling, and analysis.
- Experience with technical documentation creation and maintenance (e.g., manuals, specifications, drawings).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in complex systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical details to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred:
- Experience in dynamometer engineering or similar mechanical testing equipment.
- Familiarity with the Go Power product line or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Froude products and systems.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, LabView, or similar mathematical computing tools.
- Experience with installation, commissioning, and on-site customer support.
