AUDIO VISUAL TECH I/II

Position Summary:
Responsible for the support of university audio/visual systems; to include ensuring the proper system support, design, and installation; the proper configuration, security and support for user devices and the associated connections; understanding networking addressing and routing; understanding the inner workings of new hardware as it is deployed; and supplemental support for computers in all colleges as required. Additional responsibilities to include performance of preventative and repair maintenance of audio-visual equipment (to involve development of maintenance routines and techniques to prevent downtime, changing installation methods to reduce likely points-of-failure, and facilitation of knowledge transfer to student employees who assist with service calls).
Required Qualifications:
~Audio Visual Tech I (ST-6):
~High school diploma or GED .
~Two years of relevant job experience.
~Knowledge of digital video formats and encryption, networking, and new cabling and cabling techniques.
~Demonstrated ability to maintain meaningful preventative maintenance schedules and equipment.
~Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to the design and manufacture of new electronic devices.
~Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
~Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.
~Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
~Audio Visual Tech II (ST-7):
~Meets all required qualifications of Audio Visual Tech I plus;
~Five years of relevant job experience with at least three years of installation, repair, and preventative maintenance experience.
~Certification from ICIA (CTS ) or other audio/visual manufacturer-specific training (e.g. Crestron DMC -D/DMC -E, Biamp AVLC ).
~Demonstrated ability to properly terminate shielded and unshielded category cabling (Cat 5E/6/6A/7) with RJ45 modular plugs/keystones, coaxial cable with BNC and F-connectors, microphone/line/speaker cabling with XLR , Speakon, RCA , and Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS ) connectors, fiber (multimode/single mode) with LC, SC, and/or ST connectors.
~Demonstrated ability to properly repair and splice (as appropriate) shielded and unshielded category cabling (Cat 5E/6/6A/7), coaxial cable, microphone/line/speaker cabling, and fiber (multimode/single mode).
~Demonstrated ability to test and certify category cabling.
~Demonstrated ability to design equipment rack layouts, considering proper airflow/cooling, cable routing, electrical connections, and potential user interaction.
~Knowledge of video transmission methods over category cable, including HDBaseT, NDI , and/or other packetized video formats.
~Knowledge of audio transmission methods over category cable, including AVB and Dante.
~Knowledge of audio formats, including 2-channel PCM and multi-channel formats.
~Knowledge of networking concepts and implementations, including Network Address Translation (NAT ), ports, VLANs, device media access control address.
~Familiarity with automated equipment control systems.
~Ability to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
