Senior Accountant | Hybrid in Muskegon, MI

Our client, a manufacturing company in the Muskegon area, is looking for a Senior Accountant to support their finance and operations.
This position plays a central role in cost analysis, process efficiency, and job costing in a manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate is someone who can dig into complex data, partner across departments, and help shape informed financial decisions through clear reporting and analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the month-end close by reviewing cost entries and making necessary adjustments.
- Prepare recurring cost and margin analysis reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Monitor ERP system integration and ensure daily costing data is accurately transferred from the production floor.
- Conduct and report on daily Work In Process activity, ensuring timely valuation and reconciliation.
- Review and maintain accurate labor rates and cost center data to support standard cost structures.
- Partner with operations and quality teams to analyze production data and highlight areas for potential cost savings.
- Examine variances in job costs and assist in identifying root causes for overages or inefficiencies.
- Test and maintain documentation for internal controls related to costing and financial accuracy.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, data analysis projects, and broader accounting support as needed.
- Participate in cross-training efforts within the accounting department to ensure continuity and flexibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- 5+years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
