Responsible for the review, evaluation, and standardization of medical devices. The Sourcing Specialist collaborates with faculty, clinical, and supply chain teams to identify and coordinate the vendor selection process to utilize economies of scale and realize cost savings for University of Michigan Health. Sourcing Specialist will also ensure compliance to the contracting standards.
- Develops, revises, and executes standards for product selection including evaluation, selection of vendors, cost analyses, contracting strategy within designated product categories, request for quote (RFQ), request for purchase (RFP), evaluation of vendor performance and ongoing compliance towards contract terms.
- Confers with departments, faculty, and other clinical stakeholders regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of materials, equipment, services, and other relevant
requirements. - Performs analysis of diversified portfolio of medical devices and equipment helping to set contracting strategy to capture best price for the organization.
- Utilizes and extends use of relevant internally and externally available data for assigned categories.
- Continually grows subject matter expertise on all aspects of assigned categories, suppliers, and sourcing best practices to define alternative supplier relationship structures and pricing models.
- Uses supplier performance systems and information to evaluate suppliers and identify candidates for strategic partnerships and/or replacements.
- Identifies strategies for cost reduction and improved efficiencies across the supply chain.
- Implements initiatives through coordinated work with clinical, operational, and administrative team.
- Partners with Value Analysis to champion and facilitate clinical product conversions.
- Analyzes GPO contracts for contract adherence and pricing to optimize value.
- Establishes role as a valued advisor to clinical, administrative, and supply chain partners.
- Functions as a valued member of the Supply Chain Service Team.
- Bachelors degree in Health Care, Supply Chain Management, Business, or Nursing or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years experience in Sourcing, Contracting, Supply Chain, and/or Health Care environment.
- Three to five years experience in performing complex analysis.
- High level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.
