Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers an opportunity to work within the education industry, focusing on financial reporting, grant management, and account analysis. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
Responsibilities:
Conduct daily financial analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Perform account reclassification and adjustments as needed.
Prepare monthly financial reports with precision and timeliness.
Manage invoicing processes for grant agencies, including federal and state grants.
Collaborate with the budget team on account setup and maintenance.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
Perform reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Utilize advanced Excel skills to create formulas and analyze data efficiently. Requirements - Proven experience working with general ledger accounts.
Familiarity with managing government grants, including federal and state funding.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.
Strong understanding of budget processes and financial planning.
Ability to perform detailed analysis and resolve financial discrepancies.
Experience in customer invoicing and grant-related financial tasks.
Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams.
