We're looking for Maintenance Technicians with flexible availability to join our amazing team at the Crowne Plaza Lansing performing repairs and preventative maintenance of the building and grounds of the hotel. Paying $18+/hr depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance repairs as assigned; all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, locks, refrigeration, and plumbing systems, all building components, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner, such as replacing ceiling titles, filters, light bulbs, patching vinyl, painting, repairs to guest rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry equipment, etc.
- Repair and program hotel electronic lock system.
- Work with other departments to assure quality and safety standards are maintained. Report any unsafe conditions or lack of quality work to supervisor at staff meetings.
- Responds in a courteous and timely manner to all guest requests and complaints relative to room maintenance.
- Informs Chief Engineer of inventory needs and any special equipment or parts needed to maintain hotel standards within the department financial plan.
- Monitor and perform work on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, floor equipment, etc.) on schedule and keep daily records. Schedule necessary service calls as needed.
- Monitor usage of utilities, take daily readings, and record keeping of utilities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in fire brigade, first aid usage, weather, and other emergency techniques.
- Follows regulations on all equipment operations and reports any unsafe condition to Chief Engineer.
- Maintains all engineering/maintenance storage areas and ensures a clean, organized and safe environment.
- Maintains indoor pool and spa.
- Ensures security of any assigned keys.
- General upkeep of the grounds (signage, trash, parking lot, etc.).
- Develop and recommend systems and procedures related to assigned operations.
- Assist in other areas of the hotel as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical demands
- Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.
- Position requires extensive mobility, up to 8 hours in length at a time.
- Ability to position self to perform daily duties; occasional repetitive motions required.
- Ability to climb to unusual heights on ladders, to lift, transport, maneuver moderate to heavy amounts of weight, and to operate assigned equipment and vehicles.
- Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis and maneuver carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds frequently.
Qualifications and Requirements
A high school or equivalent education is required. Technical training at an accredited junior college or technical center is preferred.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
