Quality Engineer, Guardian Industries, LLC, Carleton, MI:
Job Description:
Coordinate with the Quality Manager and department managers to investigate and resolve plant and customer quality concerns through structured problem-solving including containment, remediation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Leverage quality system tools and data analysis to identify opportunities to reduce process variation within manufacturing and logistics, and work with department managers and engineers to fully deploy those improvements. Support the Quality Manager in meeting quality KPI goals according to the facility’s business plan in coordination with Regional OPEX and to Global Quality initiatives. Coordinate Gauge Management including Calibration and Measurement System Analysis. Aid in supporting the plant’s document control system and Quality Management System to comply with ISO-9001 including document control and Internal Audits. Support effective product development, launch and on-going change management activities with emphasis on risk mitigation.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing quality field.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, employer will accept an additional 2 years of experience in a manufacturing quality field.
Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
- Structured Problem Solving including 8D methodology, DMAIC, Cause Mapping, Ishikawa Analysis, or Three Legged 5-Why;
- Production Part Approval Process;
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis;
- Control Plans;
- Measurement Systems Analysis;
- Cross functional team coordination and leadership to address production related quality issues;
- Statistical data analysis and communication including Pareto analysis and capability studies; and
- Project management related to continual improvement or process variation reduction in a production environment.
Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.
International travel required up to 2%. Domestic travel required up to 15%
