Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Detroit, MI and we also have openings in other Cities of Michigan
Duration: Starting With 3+ months of contract and after understanding of instrument of facility, Work environment of facility & bonding with manager the project it will go to FTE.
Shift Schedule: 07:30 AM - 04:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
Job Summary
The primary function of a phlebotomist is to assist in various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, train personnel, and recommend workflow improvements. This role is vital in ensuring the proper collection, labeling, and processing of specimens while maintaining compliance with established protocols.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform blood draws and collect specimens, including urine and fecal samples.
- Label specimens accurately and centrifuge as required.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate workspaces as necessary.
- Update patient information in the system.
- Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
- Ensure all test requisitions and computer labels are 100% accurate.
- Package specimens appropriately for transport and storage.
- Store specimens according to required temperatures and protocols.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills for explaining procedures to patients.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in specimen labeling and handling.
- Ability to follow established procedures and protocols diligently.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in the field.
Certification & License:
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED.
