Information & Referral Specialist/Receptionist/Administrative Assistant – Lansing based non-profit agency seeks one (1) Information & Referral Specialist/Receptionist/Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time (minimum 35-40 hours/week) non-exempt position with a starting wage of $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending upon experience and includes a full benefits package. This position is vital for the agency as it serves as the “first contact’ with the public and many calls that are received by the agency are I&R calls. This position has a dual role by providing both Information & Referral (I&R) Services, as well as receptionist/administrative assistant duties. Information & Referral Services is a core component of a Center for Independent Living.  Types of information range from locating community resources to crisis calls regarding areas such as evictions or discontinuation of benefits.  Information & Referral Services has the flexibility to work with not only individuals with disabilities but also family members, support persons, community agencies and businesses.  

Duties Include: 1) Open and close building 2) Field and refer contact requests by phone, social media, walk-ins or community presentations 3) Locating community resources 4) Managing meeting room calendars 5) Mail 6) General office support  7) Customer service 8) Attend and participate in Staff Meetings/Trainings 9) Other duties as assigned

Minimum Hiring Requirements

• A minimum of two years of college in Human Service or related field. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service or related field preferred.
• A minimum of two years’ human service experience.
• A minimum of two years’ office administration experience.
• Personal experience with a disability and/or knowledge of disability related issues.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check, sex offender registry, and DHHS Central Registry.
• Must have access to reliable transportation as position requires travel.
