This paid internship will require full time hours availability (M-F) during the summer session dates, with the potential to start sooner in a part time capacity. The summer session dates will run from May 12-August 8. It will be a hybrid work format, involving a combination of remote and onsite work/events in Troy, MI (commute & housing expense reimbursement not provided).
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to our mission of enhancing the health and well-being of the communities we serve. As a HAP intern, you will get exposure to various aspects of our organization and work closely with industry professionals, enabling you to develop valuable skills in the healthcare and insurance sector.
In addition to helping your assigned department meet its goals, you will collaborate with the other interns towards a common goal of completing a Capstone Project to present to HAP leadership and employees and the end of the summer. It will also provide the opportunity to attend fun networking events, make new connections, and enhance your presentation skills.
PROGRAM DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, healthcare policies, and emerging technologies. Analyze data and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of projects. Contribute innovative ideas and support the execution of initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience.
Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of healthcare-related data. Ensure data accuracy and integrity, utilizing appropriate software tools and methodologies.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with customer support activities. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for process optimization and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Assist in the implementation of approved process improvement initiatives.
Create and maintain accurate documentation, including policies, procedures, and project-related materials. Generate regular reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate project progress and outcomes.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support a positive and inclusive work environment. Contribute actively to team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Department Duties/Responsibilities:
The Marketing Coordinator Intern will assist the HAP commercial group with varying degrees of support in sales and marketing. The Marketing Coordinator Intern will participate in, be engaged with, and learn about sales & marketing projects that encompass member prospecting, acquisition, retention, and engagement having to do with various communications channels including sales collateral, slide decks, and website. This internship position will assist with project coordination of communication and organization needs, as well as assist with various aspects of the management of various sales and marketing projects.
Assist with the coordination and administrative aspects of sales and marketing projects.
Work directly with members of the commercial group sales, account, and marketing teams as necessary.
Participate in meetings and conference calls, upon request.
Interface with the internal communications team and utilize the Workfront project management system. Projects assigned may include communications materials, web content, sales collateral, and/or social media content.
Create documents as necessary in Microsoft Office 365 relating to various sales & marketing projects that support HAP business partners and programs.
Learn about aspects of the commercial group health insurance business.
PROGRAM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an accredited 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field.
Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and a desire to learn and grow.
Knowledge or interest in healthcare, health insurance, or managed care is a plus.
Department Education/Experience Preferences:
This opportunity is best suited for a student in Marketing, Communications, or a related field of study.
The ideal candidate will have health care marketing/communications interest or experience.
Proficiency in a PC-based environment; Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Social media proficiency.
Able to submit samples of college course work to demonstrate marketing communications/design or writing proficiency.
