Sr. Project Engineer AE (Aerospace)
Technical site lead for systems and strategic customer business development focusing on our global sites. Leads the engineering development of key projects utilizing product development processes to develop products, leads large project and/or product launch teams by performing the following duties This could include:
· Coordinated business development support between commercial business development opportunities and technical team.
· Plans, organizes, and leads large engineering projects through product development processes.
· Prepares and adheres to project schedules and raises issues to meet project deadlines and takes necessary steps to resolve.
· Analyzes research data, proposed product specifications and/or customer drawings to determine feasibility of product proposal.
· Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
· Confers with manufacturing, marketing, and suppliers to develop designs and resolve design issues.
· Prepares or coordinates preparation of product or system layout, detailed drawings and schematics and all engineering documentation.
· Prepares cost quotations on new products, including material and purchased components, reoccurring costs, non-reoccurring costing models, packaging and testing.
· Participated in design reviews, system proposals, analysis, coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype samples, tooling, or systems.
· Plans and develop experimental test programs utilizing the appropriate quality tools.
· Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
· Confers with manufacturing, marketing, engineering, and other personnel to prepare product design modifications as required.
· Supports development of global procedures for quotation and launch activities between Flexfab global sites.
· Controls project expenditures within limitations of project budget.
· Prepares interim and completion project update reports.
· Evaluates and approves design changes, specification changes and drawing releases.
Provides technical support for existing products
· Mentors junior engineers.
· Supervises engineers and engineering technicians, as required, through the product launch process, including new part quote, new part set-up, and prototype builds adhering to the appropriate product development tools as required (APQP, CP, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc....).
· Process’s new part orders including designing, sourcing and testing of parts.
· Trouble shoots product and process problems and lends other technical assistance, as required, to shop builders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Engineering or related technical degree. Advanced degree preferred.
· Five to ten years in product or process development.
· Experience in multiple functional areas preferred.
· Demonstrated success in leading projects from concept to successful launch or implementation.
· Demonstrated technical expertise in relevant areas of responsibility or technology.
· Understanding of APQP, MS Office Suites and Project Management preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
· Professional office environment.
· Daily visits to manufacturing locations in the plant.
· Periodic travel to global Flexfab sites, customers or suppliers.
