The Charter Township of Redford is accepting applications for a full-time position of Seasonal Parks Maintance. Under the supervision of the Parks Leader, this employee will work with our full-time Parks/Central Maintenance staff to provide routine upkeep and maintenance of Redford Township Parks and facilities.
Essential Job Duties
- Maintenance of park and playground areas which includes picking up garbage, and shrubbery, raking leaves, spreading mulch, emptying rubbish containers, cleaning public restrooms, trimming trees and shrubs.
- Performs routine duties involved in landscaping, improving, and maintaining Township Parks including mowing and trimming parks.
- Set up and clean up for shelter and park rentals.
- Set up for field rentals- leveling dirt or clay in repairing holes in parks or ballfields and dragging and lining ballfields.
- Assisting with set-up, tear down, and monitoring of Township activities and special events.
- Operation of City owned motor vehicles.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as assigned.
Experience:
- Preferred experience working in park maintenance, commercial lawn care, or similar.
- Familiarity with parks maintenance equipment; mowers, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment. Work includes travel to different locations and employees may be exposed to inclement weather conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery and uneven surfaces and may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
May face exposure to pesticides and herbicides
May be required to work with or around heavy construction equipment
Physically, functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work outdoors and in a recreational facility setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard; to operate cleaning equipment and machines; to travel to other recreation sites; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
