Role Overview:
The role of the Shipping and Receiving Associate is to efficiently manage the flow of goods into and out of the warehouse or facility. Their primary goal is to ensure accurate and timely processing of incoming shipments, as well as the timely and accurate fulfillment of outgoing orders.?.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Efficient Receiving: Receive incoming shipments from suppliers, verify the accuracy of contents against packing lists or purchase orders, and accurately record received quantities in inventory management systems.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect incoming shipments for damage, defects, or discrepancies, and promptly report any issues to the appropriate personnel or suppliers.
- Inventory Management: Safely store received goods in designated warehouse locations, ensuring organization and accessibility for future retrieval. Update inventory records to reflect accurate stock levels.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing orders for shipment according to customer requirements and shipping instructions. Ensure accuracy and completeness of orders before packaging.
- Shipping Coordination: Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups or drop-offs of outgoing shipments. Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation for outbound shipments
- Timely Dispatch: Ensure that outgoing shipments are dispatched on time to meet customer delivery deadlines. Coordinate with logistics and transportation teams to optimize shipping schedules.
- Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with internal teams, suppliers, and shipping carriers regarding shipment status, delays, or other relevant information.
- Compliance: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations related to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce errors in shipping and receiving operations. Provide feedback and suggestions for process enhancements to management.
- Customer Satisfaction: Contribute to overall customer satisfaction by ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of orders, minimizing shipping errors or delays, and providing responsive customer service as needed.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Receiving Accuracy Rate: The percentage of shipments received that are accurately processed without discrepancies.
- Order Fulfillment Accuracy: The percentage of outgoing orders that are accurately picked, packed, and shipped without errors.
- On-Time Delivery Rate: The percentage of outgoing shipments that are delivered to customers on or before the promised delivery date.
- Dock-to-Stock Time: The time it takes for received shipments to be processed and placed into inventory storage.
- Shipping Cost per Order: The average cost incurred for shipping each order.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field a plus.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or a related field. Experience with order processing and inventory management.
- Equipment: Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and handheld scanners (onsite training provided).
- Attention to Detail: Meticulously check orders and inventory for accuracy, ensuring minimal errors in fulfillment processes.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet order processing deadlines and customer expectations.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members to streamline workflow and achieve departmental goals.
- Problem-Solving: Quickly identify and address issues or discrepancies in order fulfillment, implementing effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Adaptability: Adapt to changing priorities and operational demands in a dynamic work environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
- Technical Proficiency: Navigate computerized systems and software applications proficiently to perform order processing and inventory management tasks.
- Customer Focus: Maintain a customer-centric approach in all interactions, striving to meet or exceed customer expectations in order fulfillment and service delivery.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical Demands: Warehouse work involves manual labor, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects. Workers may need to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
Environment:
- Working Environment: The position requires working in a warehouse setting, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. The temperature inside the warehouse can vary depending on climate control systems and seasonal conditions.
