GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.
Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.
Unit Description:
RN usually floats between Inpatient Behavioral Health & PAS - all team members are expected to cross train
The inpatient psychiatric unit is a 36-bed adult unit caring for both voluntary and involuntary patients with a mental illness.
Team consists of nurses, mental health assistants, social workers, occupational and recreational therapists, a chemical dependency counselor, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners.
The Psychiatric Assessment Services (PAS) department is a 5-bed department located in the Emergency Department.
All patients presenting to the ED with a chief complaint which is psychiatric in nature are placed in our ligature resistant PAS department where our nurses and social workers complete an assessment to determine what level of care is needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
