A Talascend client is currently seeking a Dynamometer Technician for a day shift opportunity in Livonia, MI.
This role involves engine setup, monitoring, and teardown for various powertrain testing programs. The technician will support projects related to powertrain mapping, combustion analysis, emission testing, and engine development.
Responsibilities:
- Set up engines and install instrumentation
- Monitor engine tests and ensure accurate data collection
- Remove engines post-testing
- Support powertrain calibration and mechanical development programs
- Perform basic fabrications and follow engine assembly manuals when needed
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in powertrain dynamometer testing
- Experience with iTest, ADAPT, Horiba emission bench experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Proficient with computers and MS Office applications
- Experience operating dynamometer controls
- Own tools and rolling tool box required
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and customer service abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Associate degree or technical training in an automotive-related field
- Engine teardown and build capabilities
- Experience with powertrain calibration, diagnostics, or controls
- Familiarity with AVL PUMA 2.0 and/or A & D iTest systems
