Macomb Community College teaching Faculty demonstrate deep subject matter knowledge and provide effective instruction to students using various modalities including, but not limited to, on campus, online, remote, hybrid, and flexible learning.  They develop, modify, and ensure currency of curriculum and course syllabi.  Faculty are responsive to their students and support their success through timely communication and feedback, assessment of student learning, regular office hours, etc.  They are active members of the college community and attend department meetings as required.

This dual role focuses on student success as faculty teaching basic nursing theory, laboratory, and clinical skills in the Certified Nurse Assistant Program (CNA).   Additionally, as the Program Coordinator, this role focuses on collaborative oversight of the of CNA and Medication Assistant program with the Director of the Center for Health Careers. Specific responsibilities are as follows:

• Exercise leadership in program oversight and curriculum maintenance
• Continually evaluate and refine course content for revisions of current evidence-based practices, and scope of practice guidelines
• Develop course assessments that will accurately measure achievement of student learning outcomes and participate in assessment of student learning
• Assist in identifying and facilitating student clinical experiences 
• Identify teaching and lab materials for assigned courses
• Identify at-risk students and implement success resources to maximize student retention and progression
• Develop and maintain course materials in the College’s Learning Management System (LMS), including, but not limited to, announcements, syllabus, and gradebook 
• Keep gradebook up to date and submit final grades by published deadlines
• Hold office hours for students
• Actively participate on area and college committees and perform related duties and activities necessary to conduct the work of the area
• Perform periodic program reviews and maintain assessment records as required by college for Higher learning Commission (HLC), and for the compliance of requirements set forth by the Michigan Board of Nursing and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulations under the supervision of the Director
• Collaborate with the Director regarding hiring and orientation of adjunct faculty and staff
• Serve as resource and mentor for all adjunct faculty
• Responsible for collaborating with Associate Dean of Health and Human Services on community engagement activities
• Maintain faculty credentials as required by the College’s accrediting agencies

Associate degree in nursing or higher required, Michigan RN license-unencumbered required. Michigan Permitted Trainer for Certified Nursing Assistants required.

• At least 2 years of experience teaching health-related curriculum is preferred
• At least 2 years recent experience employed in Medical Surgical, Geriatrics or similar including clinical setting is preferred
• At least 2 years recent employment experience in Long Term Care Setting is preferred
