Powerpack Design Engineer Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position $59.28-$64.28/Hour Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance. Responsibilities: * Lead the design and release of Full Up Powerpack (FUPP) components from concept through delivery for conventional, hybrid-electric, and fully electric powertrains. * Evaluate Powerpack configurations in-vehicle, including engine, transmission, motor-generator units (MGUs), cooling, air handling, and final drive components. * Interface with internal cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to refine component and assembly-level designs. * Apply GDLS processes to develop and finalize design pathways, ensuring timely release and approval of engineering data. * Support internal reviews, milestones, and gateway events; contribute to program status reports and documentation. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's preferred. * U.S. Citizenship required with ability to obtain a security clearance. * Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle engineering; military ground vehicle experience preferred. * Hands-on experience with transmission systems in conventional and electrified powertrains. * Proficient in PLM (TeamCenter) and CAD tools, specifically CREO; experience with additional CAD platforms is a plus. * Skilled in 3D modeling, design interrogation, and manipulation. * Knowledge of GD&T principles; powertrain electrification experience is a strong asset. * Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
