Position Summary:
Northern Machining & Repair is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our team. This position focuses on programming, setting up, and operating Vertical Milling Centers (VMCs) to produce high-precision components. We’re looking for a machining professional with the knowledge and initiative to take a project from blueprint to final inspection with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program, set up, and operate CNC Vertical Milling Centers (VMCs) to manufacture precision components
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for each job
• Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality standards
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience as a CNC machinist/programmer, with emphasis on VMCs
• Proficiency in conversational programming; Mastercam experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and cutting tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs

Preferred Experience:

• Machining large or complex parts
• Working in a job-shop or custom manufacturing environment
