POSITION: Career and Technical Education Instructor - Mechatronics/Pre-Engineering
LOCATION: Alma High School
REPORTS TO: Dan Falor, Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides career and technical education in the area of Pre-Engineering (Mechatronics and Robotics) to 11th and 12th grade students. Mechatronics is the merging of multiple engineering disciplines into a broader field. Students are taught the integration of electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and programming to create economical, energy efficient and reliable automated systems that can be used in industrial, medical, and residential settings and in efficient transportation systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher with CTE Certification in Mechatronics, Engineering, and/or Robotics (CIP Code 14.4201 OR qualify for an Annual Career Authorization (ACA).
- An Annual Career Authorization (ACA) requires documentation of 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience within the past 10 years, but does not require a BA or teaching certification. Demonstrated experience and expertise in Mechatronics, Engineering, and/or Robotics.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills: A successful candidate will possess:
- Provide instruction to assigned students according to the standards established by the State of Michigan.
- Knowledge of CADD, PLC Diagnostics, Fluid Power, Pneumatics, Robotics, Blueprints, Machining and other related Mechatronics fields.
- Establish student management practices and a classroom environment that facilitates quality instruction.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with Alma High School/GITEC staff and administration.
- Regularly develop, review, and revise curriculum based on State and National standards and benchmarks.
- Maintain required professional development and educational requirements.
- Accurately maintain required records.
- Assist students in seeking and retaining work-based learning opportunities or employment related to their training.
- Maintain educational laboratory and equipment in such a manner as to continuously offer an effective instructional environment.
- Work cooperatively with parents and staff of local school districts. Maintain good public relations with the community at large.
WORK SCHEDULE: 185 Day Contract, 7 hours 20-minute workday
COMPENSATION: Alma Public Schools Salary Schedule A, Full Benefit Package
