GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Pinconning Park Manager, is responsible for grounds and maintenance operations of Bay County Pinconning Park. Is responsible for a variety of tasks including grounds, trail and beach maintenance as well as equipment maintenance, uses small equipment effectively and small tools efficiently. Cleaning of the grounds and buildings, such as the bathhouse. Maintains buildings and camping infrastructure including preventative maintenance. Customer service responsibilities for checking customers in and out, conflict resolution when needed. Reports directly to the Pinconning Park Manager. This position serves as a team leader for other employees, program workers and volunteers. Weekend and holiday work hours are required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Is responsible for maintenance of the grounds and buildings in the park. Leads or assists park maintenance projects.
2. Will regularly use hand and power tools, including riding mowers, power saws, hand and power tools, and weed whackers. Ability to safely operate a chain saw.
3. Maintains and repairs park vehicles, including park trucks, riding mowers (basic repairs only).
4. Maintains and cleans all equipment, ATV and golf cart. This includes changing oil and fluids, changing filters, changing blades on chain saw, etc.
5. Maintains and repairs showers, bathrooms, vault toilets, roads, sidewalks, beach and play equipment.
6. Performs basic plumbing (including PVC), electrical, carpentry and minor small engine and minor automotive repair.
7. Changes breakers and receptacles on camping pedestals.
8. Thoroughly cleans vault toilets, modern bathrooms and showers. Follows bathroom cleaning procedures.
9. Performs park and beach patrols. Checks buildings and park property.
10. Performs customer service with an outgoing, positive and upbeat attitude.
11. Operates cash register, sells camper permits, boat launch and day-use vehicle passes. Takes camper registrations.
12. Resolves camper disputes and arranges for instruction of park ranger staff on conflict resolution.
13. Identifies trees which need trimming and pruning and trims and prunes them.
14. Plows and shovels snow.
15. Takes bank deposits on a daily basis.
16. Will be trained as a back up to:
a. Process invoices through MUNIS
b. Enter daily deposit receipts through MUNIS
c. Maintains accurate records of money received and expended.
17. Performs all other duties as assigned.
18. Frequently works on all recognized holidays. Works weekends and evenings as needed.
19. Works a changing schedule based on the needs of the park that will change with the camping season.
20. Consistent and punctual attendance required.
21. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of one year experience with grounds and building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Has experience in minor small engine, minor automotive repair, and maintenance of lawn mowers, chain saws, and small landscaping equipment. Minimum of two years of customer service experience. Campground or recreation experience preferred. Computer skills are necessary, including email, Excel, Word and the ability to learn Munis. Testing may be required. Must be a team player and have the ability to multitask. Valid Michigan Driver’s License required. The ability to work a flexible and changing schedule based on the needs of the park is required, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (With or without reasonable accommodations) This position requires sitting, being mobile, bending and/or standing for significant periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: Generally, 20-50 pounds of force up to one third of the time.
