Travel to McLaren sites will be required at times when needed.
Responsible for the development and coordination of the infection control and employee health programs. Isolates sources of infection, educates people to reduce the spread of infection, devises strategies to prevent the spread of infection and injury prevention.
Prepares and delivers presentations, organizes data collection, and provides data analysis. Acts as liaison with health department. Serves as a resource for community and organization.
Responsible for assisting in the identification, surveillance and collection of pertinent data related to infection risk areas within the Medical Group.
Develops an effective system for reporting, evaluating and maintaining records of infectious illnesses of patients and employees
Provides a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees and visitors.
Administers surveillance programs, data reporting, data analysis and intervention development aimed at reduction of healthcare acquired infections in patients and employees.
Investigates and monitors known or potential sources of suspected infections in order to determine source and ensure control.
Develops and executes an in-service program for promoting infection prevention, immunizations and educate Medical Group staff in collaboration with MMG Staff Development & Education, including but not limited to employee's education as required by OSHA guidelines (i.e., BBP pathogens, TB, measles, etc.).
Reports communicable diseases are reported to the health department.
Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as necessary.
Completes and maintains files, records, reports, logs, investigations, and forms as required.
Assesses exposures (e.g., blood borne exposure, TB) and ensuring appropriate evaluation and follow-up is completed per OSHA, CDC guidelines and MHC protocol.
Stays updated and knowledgeable on infectious disease and surveillance issues and regulatory/accreditation requirements, including TB per OSHA mandates.
Performs other duties as required or requested.
Required:
Bachelor's degreein nursing, public health, or healthcare related field.
Two years of healthcare related experience in nursing.
Current Michigan license as a registered nurse.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs
Current Michigan Driver's License and proof of valid automobile insurance
Insurable by McLaren's insurance company (automobile)
Valid Driver's license to travel throughout all MMG regions
Preferred:
Master's degree in nursing, public health, or healthcare related field.
Four years of clinical nursing, infection prevention, or epidemiology experience.
Certification in Infection Control or active pursuit of certification with intent to certify within the specified timeframe of APIC requirements required.
