Here’s what you will do:
- Responsible for overall direction, coordination, management, and evaluation of the quoting and engineering departments at various locations.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AFL (America Fujikura Ltd.) policies and applicable laws and procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing interviewing, hiring, and training of employees in the department.
- Manage resources to revenue to meet customer's expectations and maximize not only engineering but company profitability.
- Ensure the engineering department delivers a specification product and drawings that meets the required standards, provides adequate installation instruction, and orders material with an appropriate interval to allow operations to meet requested complete date.
- Ensure estimating/quoting group deliver quotes and contract pricing that wins work and meets the target GP levels.
- Establish and ensure compliance of company policies and standards/best practices for the engineering department.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Estimating/Quoting Managers to direct work and develop talents within the department.
- Work with marketing to develop and manage customer relationships and hold meetings/conferences with both internal and external customers.
- Assist with establishment and compliance of TL9000 standards.
- Responsible for personal development and leadership of key initiatives to keep engineering informed and an industry leader in industry standards, on time performance, and group morale.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals as needed to ensure job schedule is maintained.
- Utilizes various software programs, spreadsheets, reports, and databases as required to manage workgroup to ensure maximum profitability and positive results for AFL.
- Up to 15% international travel to Mexico required.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience as an Engineering Manager, Design Release Engineer, or a closely related position in the automotive manufacturing industry.
- The ten (10) years of experience must have included the following: five (5) years of wire harness engineering; two (2) years of use of software tools such as NX, Catia, Capital Harness, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, schematic capture; one (1) year of product lifecycle management, and bills of material management; and two (2) years of use of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other system within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Up to 15% international travel to Mexico required.
