HYUNDAI AMERICA TECHNICAL CENTER, INC. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Counsel at its Superior Township, MI location to perform the following duties:
An attorney who is an excellent communicator, team player, detail-oriented, willing to learn, self-motivated, confident, and interested in helping create a happy, healthy, and productive work environment on the Legal Team. The ideal candidate must possess planning and organizational skills, the ability to adapt to changing priorities, be deadline-driven, have sound judgment and decision-making skills, be able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information, work well under pressure and be a multitasker. This Counsel role is a wonderful opportunity to work with a diverse group of highly driven team members.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Commercial - Work with business units, purchasing, and commercial legal team members to ensure that all contracts have proper provisions regarding intellectual property, cybersecurity, privacy, and any other technical aspects.
Privacy - Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that any activities and projects consider and abide by privacy laws and regulations; support ongoing compliance with changing regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy disclosures and transparency, and related issues; and assist with the development, implementation, and management of compliance and risk management strategies relating to global data privacy and protection laws and regulations.
Cybersecurity - Work with internal stakeholders and information technology to ensure that all activities meet all cybersecurity laws and regulations in addition to meeting Hyundai's global standards; support ongoing compliance with changing regulatory aspects of data protection, IT security, and data governance; and assist with the development, implementation, and management of compliance and risk management strategies relating to cybersecurity laws and regulations.
Export Compliance - Work closely with the engineering teams to perform export compliance activities including classifying projects, documenting exceptions, applying for licenses; provide legal guidance and support for internal teams on matters related to export controls, sanctions, customs compliance, and other trade regulations; analyze and interpret new laws and regulations and assist in devising compliance methods that meet business goals and objectives; and improving the process where appropriate.
Miscellaneous - Any overflow work management assigns or during his/her absence.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Discipline and Juris Doctor Degree
Admitted to the Michigan Bar
Two to Five Years ofExperience as an Attorney
The Ability to Understand and Consider Business Objectives in a Legal Function
Demonstrate Strict Attention to Detail, Accuracy, and Thoroughness in Work
Possess Prompt Responsiveness to Internal Client Requests with the Ability to Adapt to a Fast-paced Environment and be Self-motivated
Willingness to Work in a Team-based Environment with Collaboration Among Co-workers
Ability to Organize and Prioritize an Ever-changing Workload
Proficient with Microsoft programs, such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Driving Record
Preferred Experience:
In-house Legal Experience
