Description We are looking for a skilled and meticulous Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in Inkster, Michigan. This is a Contract-to-permanent position within a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services to the community. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately to ensure timely reimbursement.
Verify patient insurance details and perform necessary eligibility checks.
Apply appropriate coding for medical procedures and diagnoses to ensure accurate billing.
Resolve discrepancies in claims by collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
Maintain strict compliance with confidentiality laws and healthcare regulations while handling sensitive medical information.
Address patient inquiries regarding billing and provide clear, thoughtful assistance.
Monitor accounts for overdue payments and recommend follow-up actions to the billing supervisor.
Ensure accurate and timely posting of payments from insurance companies and patients.
Perform administrative duties as needed to support the billing department. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is an advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing.
Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding standards.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and insurance billing practices.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and billing software.
Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
Familiarity with healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
