Position Summary
The Senior Director, Market Access Medical Policy is the expert in Caris Life Science Products and their clinical application for the Market Access team and coordinates the overall development and implementation of clinical and product positioning to improve access for our products. They will be responsible for developing strategies and value propositions to obtain favorable medical policies for Caris products with payers and laboratory benefit managers. This position will develop working relationships with higher level external partners such as payer medical directors and policy makers and collaborate with commercial, regulatory, and clinical departments to navigate payer, policy, and reimbursement landscapes.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical and product expert for the Reimbursement, Health Economics and Policy team.
Communicate the clinical utility of cancer genomic profiling (CGP) and the targeted oncology therapeutics and be the team's expert in new target discoveries and their application.
Present clinical data and educational materials to market access policy makers, including medical directors, at meetings and conferences.
Lead, develop, and execute outreach strategies to medical policy developers and medical directors at health plans to support optimal access and coverage of current and emerging Caris Life Sciences products.
Work collaboratively with Medical Affairs and Clinical Development teams to develop relationships and partnerships with influential bodies to drive guideline development. Convene relevant stakeholders to review existing guidelines and propose necessary changes.
Attend select tradeshows and participate in meetings to present relevant data necessary to promote Caris Life Sciences and educate clients in the marketplace.
Assess clinical evidence and gaps in access impacting payer determinations.
Communicate clinical gaps and competitive needs to the internal clinical development team in order to improve product claims to obtain payer coverage.
Assist in collaborative efforts on health economic and clinical utility studies that support payer coverage and reimbursement.
Maintain current clinical, product, and payer knowledge, as well as the evolving payer landscape and track changes in commercial and government payers' coverage policies and update leadership of opportunities for broader patient access and reimbursement.
Support a teamwork approach engaging with various internal and external collaborators on strategic reimbursement plans.
Required Qualifications
M.D., Ph.D. (in a biological science related to pharmacology, cancer biology, or molecular and cellular biology), MS in Genetic Counseling, Pharm.D., or equivalent training and experience required.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience from biotech, medical device, or a molecular diagnostic laboratory.
Deep scientific understanding and practical application of oncology biomarkers and companion diagnostics.
Knowledge of managed care and/ or insurance industry.
Strong understanding of digital health and real-world evidence generation.
Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to scientific and non-scientific colleagues/clients.
Strong interpersonal and peer leadership skills to influence without authority.
A strategic thinker with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to get buy-in and drive consensus within the team and the rest of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of relevant market access and reimbursement experience; preferably from biotech, medical device, or a molecular diagnostic laboratory.
Strong competency of the US payer landscape and market drivers.

- Approximately 25% travel and the ability to work flexible hours when required.
