Provides system building, testing, implementation, analytical, educational and system support and maintenance for all laboratory modules. Provides support to manage interfaces and upgrades and is the primary liaison between the departmental clients and the corporate services in all matters related to LIS. Also, identifies and helps resolve deficiencies and production issues alongside business and technical (IT) teams.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
:
Provides recognized knowledge of product features, functionality and utilization of application software.
Provides day-to-day operational support for Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) including advanced LIS troubleshooting support for departmental clients as necessary.
Builds and maintains the integrity of the LIS database.
Provides integration of the LIS with the Hospital Information System, external reference lab, and or lab analytical instruments.
Provides guidance and mentorship to team for the on-going maintenance, testing, workflow development, workflow analysis, technical build/configuration, change documentation, testing, and application deployment/support patient care applications.
Review and test changes, interfaces, data conversion, enhancements, and each new release as assigned. Also, provide onsite support during go lives and system upgrades.
Act as a liaison between clinical personnel, vendors to solve system issues.
Analyzes, develops and maintains computer applications, procedures and other systems that meet the required needs of the laboratory.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, computer science or related field,or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Equivalency is Associate degree plus 5 years of experience working in a laboratory as a lab technician or as an IT Analyst)
Minimum three years (8 years without Bachelor's degree) of experience with laboratory information systems or clinical laboratory experience or relevant computer science experience
Minimum of two full life cycle implementation projects.
Minimum three years of experience in at least one of the following applications:

Cerner Millennium Power Chart
Cerner PathNet
Cerner FSI
Cerner Charge Services
Meditech
Orchard
Atlas and EMR Connectivity
Ability to travel to offices in all McLaren Regions. Travel will be kept to a minimum, unless additional resources are needed.
Preferred:
Master's degree in a healthcare or information technology field
Certifications in multiple Cerner solution areas or Project Management Professional(PMP) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or Certified Professionalin Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)
