Job Title: Shipping Clerk/Technician
Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk/Technician to process all types of orders, including common carrier freight, for shipping. This role involves picking, packing, and shipping orders accurately according to guidelines, as well as handling incoming shipments in the Calibration Lab. The position requires proficiency in shipping applications, processes, and software.
Responsibilities
Pick, pack, and ship orders according to shipping guidelines to prevent damage during delivery.
Become proficient using all shipping applications, processes, and software including the shipping app for pick, pack, and shipping.
Ensure accuracy and on-time shipment of customers' orders.
Pick, pack, and ship future orders as directed by the manager.
Meet the team metric of shipping all orders scheduled for the day they are due.
Pack orders so they arrive in perfect condition.
Prepare freight estimates for domestic and international shipments.
Schedule freight pickups from common carriers and small package couriers.
Manage the UPS and FedEx computer manifest systems, including updating databases and inputting daily shipment information.
Maintain and update various databases related to the shipping department.
Process documentation associated with shipping domestic and international packages accurately.
Operate, clean, and maintain the box machine.
Provide production with box articles required for finished goods.
Communicate with customers about problems or issues related to shipping.
Use a pallet jack to move, pick, pack, and load inventory/orders from racking and load pallets on semi-trucks.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Assist in other departments as needed.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED
Proficient Forklift skills - Sit Down
Basic computer skills and knowledge of business software (Word/Excel)
Basic math skills
Knowledge of scale use for weighing shipment products
Effective communication skills at all levels within the organization
Self-motivated with attention to detail
Problem-solving skills
Ability to research issues and drive to a resolution
Record-keeping skills
Perform cycle counts
Attentive to daily upkeep of forklift equipment
Report any safety hazards or dangers
1-3 years of shipping experience
Computer knowledge with Microsoft products, Internet usage, and shipping manifests
Ability to function accurately and safely in a fast-paced environment
Ability to complete tasks on short notice and change tasks quickly

Work Environment
The Shipping & Receiving candidate will be working within the manufacturing area 100% of the time. The Shipping & Receiving area is separated by a partition wall with a computer system and standing desks. The walls open up to a shipping and receiving dock where trucks pull up. As shipments come in, these doors can remain open, letting cool or warm air into the facility. There is an employee entrance on the side of the building that provides direct access to the plant. A shared breakroom is available for all employees. Overall, the plant is kept clean and organized. There are currently two other direct hire Shipping & Receiving Technicians in this department.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
