| Summary of Position: | • Ferris State University is seeking a well-qualified and experienced applicant for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to serve within the School of Criminal Justice.
• The responsibilities will include teaching courses in the School of Criminal Justice program both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Additionally, the prospective faculty member will collaborate with faculty on curriculum development, perform academic advising, and serve on various levels of committee support of the University, College and Department.
• The candidate will also maintain regularly scheduled office hours, support a research agenda, and continue their professional development.
• Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University’s campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
• The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest. | |

• Candidate will have experience teaching at the higher education level.

| Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | • Ability to teach courses in corrections, community corrections, juvenile delinquency, and ethics in CJ.
• Knowledge and use of a variety of approaches to instruction.
• Online teaching experience specifically with Canvas LMS.
• Familiarity with program assessment practices. | |
| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | • Teach courses for the School of Criminal Justice. Teaches a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
• Serve as an academic advisor for criminal justice students, including, regularly scheduled advising dates and times.
• Assist with student registration, verify consortium forms, and review graduation audit requirements.
• Assist with program development and support recruitment of new students.
• Attend career and college fairs and open houses, visit local middle, and high schools to inform students, and counselors of careers within the criminal justice system.
• Participate as a liaison with industry to promote the School of Criminal Justice.
• Participate in university committees and other traditional functions that have academic significance such as graduation exercises.
• Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
• Present recommendations for curriculum development/ changes and other activities deemed necessary for continued program viability.
