The University of Michigan School of Dentistry is looking for a dedicated Patient Accounts Supervisor to join our dynamic team. You will lead our team of Patient Business Associates, oversee cash management, and ensure seamless operations within our Patient Business Office. You will report directly to the Dental Business Office Manager. You will primarily work onsite at the School of Dentistry at the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, MI. There is an opportunity for some occasional remote work in this position.
- Provide management to Patient Business Associates, including managing the team schedule, selection and assignment of staff, and assessing daily work flow and work load. Approve the definition of responsibilities for the Patient Business Office team and complete performance evaluations and expectations. Interview, hire, and train new team members. Approve staff time off and time reports. Monitor attendance of staff. Resolve operational issues and employee concerns for all staff
- Oversee the cash management process. Checking staff for accuracy, balanced cash bags, and reconciliation of collections. Prepare deposits for the bank. Prepare and create daily, monthly, and year-end financial reports for leadership
- Attend meetings to represent the Patient Business Office and report information back to staff. Provide direction to front desk staff regarding the collection of pre and post-service patient liability. Handle confidential information with care. Work in direct partnership with the front desk and leadership
- Maintain strong relationships across the school, with an emphasis on internal and external customer service
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
- At least 2 years experience supervising a medical or dental office, including cash management
- At least 3 years of experience in a dental or medical billing setting that includes experience with prior authorizations of Medicaid and Healthy Michigan policies
- At least 3 years of experience with a computerized patient management system
- Progressive knowledge of spreadsheets such as Excel and Google and other Office products; perform functions in Excel and Google that allow for increased productivity and efficient use of information. Ability to use these tools to develop reports for presentations to leadership.
