Seeking a skilled professional to join Sales Operations & Retail Innovation as Assistant Manager, Dealer Data Governance. This role oversees dealer data governance, ensuring policy compliance, managing data access requests, and for managing and maintaining dealer data assets in Atlan, including data elements, definitions, and standard usage guidelines. Responsibilities include leading contract staff, monitoring emerging technologies, and reporting key metrics to leadership. The position supports the use of dealer data for analytics, modeling, marketing, and dealer-optional initiatives to enhance customer experience and vehicle quality.
The scope of this position is global and will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including Legal, IT, Marketing, Sales, and Aftersales.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate new dealer data requests and ensure compliance with the Dealer Data Governance Process, starting with completion of a Dealer Data Authorization (DDA) form
Assist business teams as they navigate the Dealer Data Governance Process and related process including:
Privacy Impact Assessment
External Data Transfer Policy
Application Registration (ASMS)
Responsible for providing stakeholders with regular status updates on requests
Ensure submitted forms are complete and thoroughly document dealer data requests, including purpose, data source, specific data elements, data flows, intended use, and involvement of third parties
Conduct annual audits on the anniversary of active DDA forms
Ensure data governance practices and dealer data usage comply with federal and state regulations
Develop, implement, and enforce data governance policies and procedures
Identify opportunities for improving data governance processes and systems
Work with business units, IT, legal, and compliance teams to align data governance practices with business needs
Educate stakeholders on dealer data governance policies, best practices, and tools
Assisting in managing dealer data ownership, accountability, and stewardship across departments
Establish and maintain a dealer data dictionary, metadata, and classification standards
Manage and control access to dealer data, ensuring it is secure and only accessible to authorized users
Document business requirements for occasions where it is necessary to acquire additional dealer data from dealer third-party service providers to meet a business need
Track and report KPIs for data governance, including data quality, compliance, and incidents, while providing regular updates to leadership
Provide regular reports on data governance practices, conduct audits, and track dealer data usage, access patterns, and lineage, highlighting data changes and transformations
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required - Data Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
Experience (5+ years) in data governance, data management, or related roles, preferably in the automotive sector
Experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives related to data governance
Experience managing governance initiatives, handling data access requests, and implementing best practices
Effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders, including dealers, IT, legal, and business units
Ability to develop and enforce governance policies while balancing business needs
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), compliance requirements, and state-specific dealer data laws
Familiarity in data management tools, metadata repositories, and governance platforms (e.g., Atlan, Collibra, Informatica)
Experience collaborating with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and dealer data is a plus
Strong balance of business acumen and technical aptitude
Cultivates patience and perseverance, especially in the daily operating environment, maintaining a positive mindset to effectively manage the challenges of the day in support of our dealer retail sales network
