Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various HR functions and ensuring effective management of employee relations, compliance, policy and HRIS Administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, social and communication skills. Must be organized, with a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
The candidate selected for this role will work under the general direction of our Human Resources Manager, supporting all aspects of human resource services for all Michigan based business locations.
This position is privy to confidential information, and as such, requires diplomacy and discretion. This role requires working with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment, and initiative while maintaining confidentiality. The Human Resources Coordinator understands the requirement for flexibility and accommodates shifting priorities while representing and supporting human resource functions.
Responsibilities
- HRIS Administration (PAYCOM) – Oversees the new hire verification process and approves any changes made in the Company's HRIS system. Calculates final checks to include final benefit payments, and vacation cash outs. Provides ad hoc reports to include Pay Rate Reports as required.
- Employee Relations – For all Michigan based locations, serves as a resource to various levels of the organization, to coach, counsel, and resolve sensitive employee issues through direct and indirect interaction with employees, management, and customers. Specific responsibilities include coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, and preparation of related documentation. Investigates, documents, and resolves employee complaints and grievances to include but not limited to harassment, and discrimination. Conducts off boarding, exit interviews, and terminations.
- Compliance - Tracks and monitors Federal, State, Municipal level requirements, and changes. Advises, recommends, and drafts policy/notice updates and changes. Complete unemployment and disability claims.
- Ensures weekly time sheets are received from employees and follows-up as necessary.
- Maintain/Update job descriptions for all MI positions.
- Assign applicable training courses as needed.
- Mentor by guiding our employees and colleagues.
- May perform additional duties as requested by management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in human resources or administrative roles with knowledge of HR practices.
- Human Resources Certification - SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Proficient in using HR software such as Paycom or similar platforms.
- Must be proficient in MS Office – Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be versatile, flexible, self-motivated, tech-savvy, emotionally intelligent, and good communicator, and collaborator with strong Human Resources skills/experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Job requires sitting, standing, and bending for approximately 6 – 8 hours daily.
- Must be able to handle daily pressures and stress-related conditions.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
