Job Summary: The shipping & receiving personnel manage all incoming and outgoing shipments. Much of their work utilizes the MRP computer system. They work directly with many people from around the plant, such as material handlers and purchasing agents, as well as truck drivers and dealers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
- Follows all pre-established procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of work
- Uses hand truck, pallet jack, and various hand tools
- Completes all job duties within given time constraints
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Cross-trains between several different jobs
- Completes various activities, such as accepting deliveries and shipments, checking for order accuracy against the packing slips, receiving purchase orders in the computer system, printing part orders, transferring inventory, utilizing the last box function, preparing items to be shipped, entering shipments into the computer system, and working with dealers when they pick up orders
- Cleans and maintains work area
- Pursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flow
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
