Position Summary
The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) provides physician leadership to advance clinical information systems to improve operational performance and patient care. The CMIO works directly with Physicians, Clinical and Administrative leadership, as well as Quality and Safety teams to ensure systems enhance process, safety, and leverage clinical data to reduce variance in care processes and quality. The CMIO serves as a key advisor in creating and executing business strategies and formulating plans for maximizing the clinical use of information technology systems. The CMIO manages the physician IT governance structure and leads these various groups to ensure a cohesive, well-coordinated electronic health record, while promoting interoperability to enhance patient care and the clinician experience.

Extensive training, expertise, and proven experience in continuous quality improvement methods and Health Informatics, focusing on the use of information and technology to enhance healthcare.
Extensive knowledge of project management principles, with the capacity to coordinate, plan, and execute complex projects that involve multiple interrelationships.
In-depth knowledge of EHR systems, data analytics, interoperability standards, and clinical workflows. - 3-5 years of experience in clinical systems, implementation, and process re-design- Practical experience with electronic health information systems in a hospital and clinic setting. - Specific experience with Cerner Powerchart Millenium preferred. - Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of information technologies in health care

Organizational Priorities & Position-Specific Responsibilities / Performance Standards Servicea. Builds relationships and conducts needs assessments with patient care providers to understand fully their needs. Gains the support and consensus of clinician leadership regarding information technology needs and priorities.b. Leads the development of rule-based alerts, reminders, and other clinical decision support tools to implement evidence-based medicine and other best practices to support patient care.c. Manages prospective discussions with all affected clinicians and any affected support staff in the selection and implementation of proposed computer processes.d. Serves as a liaison to the Munson employed and non-employed physicians for information technology services, as well as joint ventures and clinical integration efforts.e. Serves as a physician champion in the development of the electronic medical record.f. Leads expansion of EMR technologies in the hospital and ambulatory/office setting.g. Partners closely with the Director of Digital Health to optimize and expand the use of telehealth services and offerings across the organization.
Efficiency and Effectivenessa. Ensures ongoing communication with physician and other clinical stakeholders, as well as with other members of the Information Technology Leadership Team.b. Manages clinician IT governance in the hospital and outpatient settings.c. Evaluates the impact of solutions on clinical processes and identifies areas to promote use of technology in creating efficiencies for clinicians and improving quality of care.d. Works directly with Quality and Safety teams to ensure systems enhance safety and leverage clinical data to facilitate quality measures and reduce variance in care processes. e. Collaborates closely with Clinical Application Analysts, Informatics, and IT Training teams to oversee the implementation of clinical information systems, ensuring that these systems improve patient care processes, safety, and quality.f. Works with the Chief Information Officer and other IT leadership to implement the IT roadmap.
Quality and Safetya. Participates in Medical Records, Performance Improvement, Continuous Survey Readiness, and Safety committees.b. Maintains awareness of existing and emerging technology, regulatory, and market factors that have an impact on clinical information management.
