Position Summary:
The registered nurse is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for monitored patients during their hospital stay including cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic stabilization, responsive to emergent situations and care of evidence-based medicine patients. The registered nurse ensures that quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigan Department of Public Health, the medical center and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. The registered nurse participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment, maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality and respects patient's rights.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides care to antenatal, prenatal, laboring, and postpartum patients
Performs vaginal exams and interprets progression
Monitors and interprets fetal heart rhythm tracings; intervenes as required
Assists with the delivery of neonates
Provides neonatal care
Recognizes and responds to obstetrical and neonatal emergencies
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Must possess valid State ofMichigan Nursing License
BLS Certified
ACLS certified within 6 months of hire
Completion of Basic Fetal Monitoring course within 30 days of hire
NRP and completion of Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course within 6-12 months of hire
Minimum 2 years experience in OB or related field
