A total of two (2), 1.0 FTE, Advanced Practice Professionals (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.
Responsibilities for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):
Act as the primary provider for individual child and adolescent patients in the PHP, collaborating closely with the supervising faculty psychiatrist, as well as the interprofessional PHP team.
Perform initial and follow-up assessments daily on patients referred to and within the program.
Perform daily patient evaluation and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the team, along with regular documentation including an updated, daily safety plan, assessment and recommendations.
Conduct physical examinations and diagnostic workup, as needed, on initial presentation, and as physical complaints arise during the patient?s stay.
Serve as an essential part of the multidisciplinary team and attend team meetings, family meetings, care coordination meetings, daily huddles to provide clinical care.
Communicate with members of the PHP team, family, and other members of the patient?s current and past treatment team outside of the PHP for coordination of care and gathering of collateral information.
Assist with program development and quality improvement.
Assist with plans of transitions of care to and from the PHP, including coordinating care with multidisciplinary providers
NP:
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certification in the State of Michigan
- Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration
- AHA approved BLS
- One (1) or more years of either pediatric or child psychiatry experience
PA
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA or one of its predecessor agencies.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration
- AHA approved BLS
- One (1) or more years of either pediatric or child psychiatry experience
NOTE:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.

- One or more years of practice as a NP or PA.
- A background providing care in child psychiatry is preferable, particularly with some interface with youth in pediatric medicine.
- Previous experience in intensive outpatient programming, day programming, partial hospitalization programming with experience in problem-solving, crisis management, and de-escalation of distressed patients is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as measured by references and interviews.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and medical knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to share clinical care ideas and collaborate across multiple patient care services and to communicate assertively as a patient advocate.
- Ability to multi-task and work on a collaborative team.
- Commitment to clinical care, quality improvement, and teaching.
- Demonstrated leadership in work setting and other professional activities.
