The driver also communicates with parents and staff, participates in professional development, and follows all relevant regulations. No formal education is required, but a high school diploma or GED is recommended.
Bus Drivers must have a valid CDL license, pass a CDL physical, and have at least seven years of driving experience in the United States, preferably with buses. A clean driving record is required. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained after hire. Drivers should understand transportation regulations, local geography, and emergency response. Essential abilities include quick reaction time, selective attention, peripheral vision, and spatial orientation. The role involves prolonged sitting, lifting up to 30 lbs, and exposure to adverse weather and environmental hazards. Background checks, including fingerprinting and registry screenings, are required. Drivers must have personal transportation, a valid license, and meet auto insurance liability requirements.
