Converting Operator: Midland, MI
The Converting Operator will support the manufacture and shipment of fly lines by performing coiling, looping and packing job functions. (picking, packing, shipping, warehouse job functions as needed).
Company Interfaces:
The position reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations. The position has no direct reports. The position will interact daily with peer production associates, production analysts, maintenance associates, quality associate and production supervision/management. There will also be occasional contact with finance, sales, product development and the company president.

- Produce world class fly lines at KPM standard rates.
- Follow product standards and SOPs with the appropriate attention to detail to product standards and produced product.
- Use technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve process / production problems to return to the process to the production of high quality, defect free fly lines.
- Display flexibility by operating several fly line manufacturing processes on a rotating basis.
General Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Work in a safe manner following plant safety and environmental rules.
- Operate equipment to convert fly lines from skein form to individually coiled, printed, looped, and packed fly lines.
- Identify and willingly participate in process improvement projects.
- Support the resolution of product and process problems with other production, maintenance and other associates.
- Review and support the correction of product standards and SOP’s.
- Educate / train new associates to take ownership by becoming self-managed on production equipment.
- Interface with vendors to solve problems and present solutions to improve process technology.
- Support production through the covering of O.T. due to vacations, illnesses, production demands, etc. as needed.
- Lead fellow production associates in meeting production demands, resolution of equipment troubleshooting, etc. as required.
- Learn new techniques and processes as required
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Required:
Education
- High school graduate or GED mandatory.

Physical attributes
- Must be able to sit for up to two hours at a time;
- Must be able to stand for eight hours;
- Must be able to lift to chest level up to 30 lbs. ten times per day;
- Must be able to distinguish colors;
- Must be able to detect line defects down to 0.005 inches;
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders
- Must be able to walk about inside the production area to access equipment, supplies, etc.
- Must use hands/fingers to handle or feel operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position for up to 8 hours per day.
- Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to access equipment, supplies, clean, etc.
- Able to verbally communicate and hear verbal communication
- Able to hear to detect /discern equipment operation.
